Intellisync for Yahoo! is a downloadable program that allows you to keep the information in your Yahoo! Address Book, Calendar, To-Do List, and Notepad in sync with Microsoft Outlook, your Palm or Pocket PC device, ACT!, or Lotus Organizer.

Intellisync for Yahoo! performs two-way transfers. During synchronization, data is written to a history file. This history file is "cleaned" at the end of synchronization. Subsequent synchronization runs read the history file to determine if data has changed since the last synchronization was run. Data is compared on both systems, and updated appropriately. History data is maintained only for synchronization, not for the optional import or export operations.

IntelliSync for Yahoo! compares the data in the PIM to the data in the selected PC application and makes whatever changes are necessary in either system to make sure that they both contain the same data. For example, if a data record is added or deleted in one system and not the other, IntelliSync for Yahoo! synchronizes the data by adding or deleting the appropriate record in the system that needs updating. Or, if differences exist between the data in a record included in each system, IntelliSync updates the record according to the conflict resolution previously set up by the user. IntelliSync for Yahoo! maintains and references a history file to compare the data in each system and determine which information is the most current.

IntelliSync for Yahoo! also allows you to customize the software to work exactly as you want. You can specify the individual field mappings between systems and the date range to include timed items, and turn off synchronization for completed "to do" items. You can also control how data conflicts are resolved. For example, when a synchronization is run, if a data conflict occurs, you can specify whether the conflict is ignored, noted, or handled by having one system take precedence over the other.

One special feature of IntelliSync for Yahoo! is the Full Re-Synchronization feature, a special synchronization mode that avoids losing records after data in one of your systems has been accidentally deleted or damaged.

Note: Full Re-Synchronizations are initiated using the "Re-Sync" button in the confirmation prompt. To retain access to this button, keep the "Confirm Record Deletions" option in the Confirmation tab of the Advanced Settings dialog selected.
