You can copy a single contact entry or your entire address book from Microsoft Outlook 2002 (XP) or 2003 to Yahoo! Address Book.

Copy a single entry from Outlook and put it in Yahoo! Address Book.

First, export the contact from Microsoft Outlook as a vCard (.vcf) file.

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Open the contact you want to add to your Yahoo! Address Book.
  3. Choose "Export to vCard file" in the File menu.
  4. Save the file on your computer in a handy place that you'll remember.

Now, import the contact into Yahoo! Address Book.

  1. Open your Yahoo! Address Book and click "Import/Export" in the upper-right corner.
  2. Under "Import", choose "vCard (.VCF file)" from the pull-down menu in Step 1.
  3. Click "Browse" to locate the vCard file you just saved on your computer.
  4. Click the "Import Now" button to import the file.

Copy your entire Microsoft Outlook address book and put it in Yahoo! Address Book:

First, export the information from Microsoft Outlook:

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Open the "File" menu and select "Import and Export."
  3. Select "Export to a File" and click "Next."
  4. Select your "Contacts" folder and click "Next."
  5. Select "Comma Separated Values (Windows)" and click "Next."
  6. Select the "Contacts" folder to export from and click "Next."
  7. Specify a location where you would like to save the file, and enter a name for the .CSV file. Then click "Next."
  8. Make sure to check the box next to "Export Contacts from the Contacts Folder," and then click "Finish" to export the data to the .CSV file.

Next, import that file into your Yahoo! Address Book

  1. Open your Yahoo! Address Book and click "Import/Export" in the upper-right corner.
  2. In the Import section, select "Microsoft Outlook (.CSV file)."
  3. Click "Browse" to find the file on your computer.
  4. Click the "Import Now" button.

Yahoo! Address Book can only import data that Outlook places in the .CSV file. Some of your data may be excluded if Outlook does not place it in the .CSV file. Also, make sure you have data in the "First," "Last," or "Company Name" fields before importing to Yahoo! Address Book, since at least one of those fields is required to create a Yahoo! contact.
