Which Verizon Yahoo! premium benefits will be discontinued, and by when? |
Some of the premium benefits associated with your Verizon Yahoo! membership account (and subaccounts) are being discontinued.
As always, you will continue to use your Verizon Yahoo! ID and password to sign in to Verizon Yahoo!, and access your personal data: your email, My Verizon Yahoo! content, photos, and other data. You'll receive detailed emails on the changes with dates and what actions, if any, you may need to take.
The services affected will be:
Verizon Yahoo! Online Protection Security Suite: This service is being discontinued. As a result, in order to maintain ongoing anti-virus and general security protection for your computer, you must select and install a different Internet security suite software or service by December 8, 2008. You have the option to subscribe to Verizon Internet Security Suite before Verizon Yahoo! Online Protection ends to ensure no lapse in system protection occurs. Verizon Yahoo! Online Protection users will receive a detailed email in November on what steps to take and by when, your options, and a special offer from Verizon, to help you make a smooth transition before Verizon Yahoo! Online Protection ends. Click here for more information.
Verizon Yahoo! Briefcase: This service is being discontinued. You can move your stored files to the Verizon Online Backup & Sharing vault, where Verizon Broadband customers get a free, supersized, 250MB account. Time frame for the Verizon Yahoo! Briefcase transition to Verizon Online Backup & Sharing is February / March 2009. Verizon Yahoo! Briefcase users will receive a detailed email on what steps to take and by when.
Verizon Yahoo! Photos: Your Flickr Pro account will change to a basic Flickr account on January 31, 2009. The basic Flickr account has many of the same features as Flickr Pro, although basic Flickr features are subject to some limits. Your existing photos or videos will not be deleted unless you delete them yourself. However, in the basic Flickr account, you will be able to view only 200 items that you most recently uploaded. If you want to continue using a Flickr Pro account, you can upgrade your basic Flickr account by subscribing directly to the service. FlickrPro users will receive a detailed email with more information in December.
Verizon Yahoo! LAUNCHcast Plus: Verizon Yahoo! LAUNCHcast Plus is being discontinued. However, the basic version of LAUNCHcast will still be available. We will provide LAUNCHcast users with a detailed email with more information to come.
We'll keep this item updated as more information becomes available.
