Setting up and using more than one merchant account

You can set your store to have more than one payment processor. You need to set up your additional payment processors in the Payment Center. Then you can process the order with the transaction panel for the payment processor associated with the payment option (credit card, PayPal, or other) used for the order.

While you can set up multiple payment processors, you can only set up one merchant account for processing credit card transaction for each card type (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) as only one merchant account can be set to perform real-time authorizations and manual transactions. For example, you can set up merchant account A to process all Visa and MasterCard transactions, and merchant account B to process American Express and Discover Card, but you cannot set merchant account A and B to process all four card types.

The links below provide instructions for each step.

Setting up a merchant account

Ask your merchant account provider for a new MID/TID pair for your Yahoo! Store. You should ask them to use the following information in the setup:

  • Product Name: Yahoo! Store FDMS (g/w)
  • Product ID:819000
  • Vendor Name: Yahoo!
  • Vendor ID:190

Once you have this information, you will need to sign in to your store to set up online processing.

To set up an existing merchant account:

  1. From Store Manager, click the "Payment Center" link under the "Order Settings" column. (You may be prompted to enter your security key to proceed).
  2. Click Add New Processor.
  3. Select the option to use your existing payment processor.
  4. Select the option to configure an existing merchant account and click Next.
  5. Enter your merchant account information supplied to you by your merchant account provider into the fields and select the supported credit cards (see A-D Figure 1):
Figure 1: Setting up an existing merchant account
  1. Name of Bank—enter the name of your merchant bank
  2. Merchant Number—enter your merchant account number. If you have multiple accounts you need only enter the number for one.
  3. MID—enter your Merchant Identification number; valid MID and TID numbers on this platform are usually 7 digits long each (not counting any leading zeroes). MID is not the same as your merchant account number.
  4. TID—enter your Terminal Identification number

Note: Check that your MID and TID are accurate before you finalize the setup process and select only the cards that your account is capable of processing.

  1. Click Finish.
  2. Return to the Store Manager and publish your order settings when ready.

With your merchant accounts set up, you can now process orders using any of the merchant accounts for which your store is set up.

Processing orders with multiple merchant account providers

To process orders with multiple merchant account providers:

  1. From the Store Manager, click the "Orders" link in the "process" column.
  2. Enter the order number you wish to view and click the "View" button.
  3. Scroll towards the bottom of the page. You should see a transaction panel for the merchant account for which you set up the card type used by the buyer.
  4. Click the "Sale" (or "Capture Funds" if using PayPal) button within the transaction panel (see figure 3)

The settlement will take place using the merchant account in which the authorization was made and in which you processed the sale.

Notes about multiple merchant accounts
  • Merchants with multiple merchant accounts can switch which account through which to process a manual transaction by selecting the account using the gateway drop-down menu on the Manual Transactions page. The gateway field will appear at the top of the fields in the Submit and Void Transactions sections.
  • Each merchant account should be set to process a unique set of card types (Visa, MasterCard) without overlapping.
  • Merchants cannot use the authorization from one merchant account to process a manual transaction in another merchant account.
  • Merchants should check with their merchant account providers to determine what circumstances result in non-qualified transactions so as to avoid the higher fees typically associated with such transactions.
