Ad Group Optimisation Guidelines

Use the Ad Group Optimisation Guidelines page to define optimisation guidelines for the selected ad group (if optimisation is available for your account). The ad group optimisation guideline values you set for the ad group will override the default optimisation guideline values you set for the campaign.

Understanding Ad Group Optimisation Guidelines

To turn on campaign optimisation, first define your campaign optimisation guidelines. The campaign optimisation guideline values you set apply to the campaign and to all ad groups in that campaign. If you have a different optimisation strategy for any ad group in a campaign, use the ad group optimisation guidelines to set custom values for that ad group.

Setting Ad Group Optimisation Guidelines

To set optimisation guidelines for an ad group:

  1. Click the Campaigns tab. The Campaigns page opens.

  2. Identify a campaign that has optimisation on and click its link. The Campaign Details page opens.

  3. Identify an ad group and click its link. The Ad Group Details page opens.

  4. Click the down arrow to the right of the Ad Group Settings button.

  5. Select Optimisation Guidelines. The Ad Group Optimisation Guidelines page opens.

  6. Review the current set of optimisation guidelines specified for the ad group.

  7. Edit the ad group optimisation guidelines as necessary.

    • Select Use Campaign Setting in the dropdown list to apply the campaign optimisation guideline setting to this ad group.

    • Select Specify Custom Value in the dropdown list to set a different value for this ad group. The value field and importance dropdown list may then be edited.

  8. Click the Save Changes button.
