Yahoo's SafeSearch feature is designed to filter out explicit, adult-oriented content from Yahoo Search results. SafeSearch can be set to one of three modes:

  • Strict: Filters out mature content in both Image Search and Web Search
  • Moderate: Filters out mature content in Image Search only
  • Off: Does not filter search results

You can select the preferred setting in the "Preferences" section of Yahoo Search (click the "Preferences" link located under the search box). By default, it is set to "Moderate". Additionally, the preference setting can be password protected so you can be assured that any time your computer is in use, the results are filtered.

Note: Yahoo SafeSearch cannot guarantee that all explicit content will be recognised and filtered out. If you want additional protection from explicit content, talk to your Internet provider about their content controls or ask at your local PC store about filtering software for your home computer.
