How do I configure my pop up blocker to allow Yahoo! LAUNCHcast?
Add the Player to Your Pop-up Blocker (or other software) List of Allowed Sites
Most pop-up blocker software will block the Yahoo! LAUNCHcast Player and Yahoo! Music Video Player. As well, many new desktop applications will also block you from using the Yahoo! Music Video player. These include the Yahoo! Toolbar, Google Toolbar, Panicware, SBC browser, and new versions of Netscape and AOL. There are several ways to work around this software:
Locate the tool that allows you to add accepted websites (i.e., ones not to block). For example, in Yahoo! Toolbar:
- Position your mouse over the pop-up blocker icon on Yahoo! Toolbar and right-click
- Select "Always Allow Pop-ups From …"
- Enter the following URLs:
- *music.yahoo.com
- *launch.yahoo.com
- http://launchtoday.music.yahoo.com/player
- http://music.yahoo.com/musicvideos/player/
- http://mvp.music.yahoo.com/
None of these pages will serve ads to you. They only launch the music video player and Yahoo! LAUNCHcast. You will not see more ads by adding these URLs.
You can also temporarily disable pop-up blocker: just hold down the "Shift" or "Ctrl" key on your keyboard to temporarily disable it and view the Player.
Blocking from Internet Explorer
If you do not have a pop-up blocker installed, or think you have properly allowed it to play Yahoo! LAUNCHcast or Yahoo! Music Videos, you may be getting blocked from newer versions of Internet Explorer. To allow the player in IE, follow the instructions below (your version may vary slightly from this description):
IE XP SP2
- With IE open, click Tools
- Highlight Pop-up Blocker
- In the field called "Address of web site to allow," paste the following URLs and click Allow for each one (you can cut and paste the URLs):
- music.yahoo.com
- launch.yahoo.com
Other IE versions
- With IE open, click Tools
- Click Internet Options
- Click Privacy
- Click Settings
- In the field called "Address of web site to allow," enter the following URLs (you can cut and paste the URLs):
- uk.music.yahoo.com
- uk.launch.yahoo.com
Adding these URLs should allow the player to open.
If you have problems, please contact the company you purchased or downloaded the pop-up blocker from and let them know you would like to view content on Yahoo! Music but their software is not allowing you. Their customer service should assist you. If you still have problems, please write to Customer Care, and we will assist you.
