You can open the Advanced Search options using the link on the right side of the search bar. The search bar is found near the top of every page in Yahoo! Message Boards.
Advanced Search allows you to narrow your search queries using a variety of functions. Here is an explanation of each feature of the Advanced Search and how it can be used.
Keyword box: Results are restricted to boards or messages that contain the text you enter in this box.
Search in: Use the pull-down menu next to the keyword box to restrict your search to a specific category or message board. If you would like to search across all the message boards, make sure to select "All Yahoo! Message Boards."
Search button: Click this button when you wish to execute your query.
Within fields: Use this option to choose which fields of the message you wish to match your keyword. For example, if you check Subject, but not Message Body, then you only see results for messages where your keyword appeared in the subject line of the post.
Matching: Selecting Topics returns results that match only the first message of a topic, where choosing Topics and Messages returns matches for both the first message in the topic as well as any replies to that topic.
Sentiment: This feature is only available within the Finance Message Boards area and allows you to restrict your results to only messages where the user has shared a specific stock sentiment.
Authored by: This feature allows you to restrict your search to only messages posted by a specific Yahoo! user.
Note: If you want to find all of the messages posted by you or by another user, make sure to leave the keyword box blank.
Posted on: Choose to either search the entire history of message boards posts or restrict your search to a specific date range using this option.
