Why do I have to verify my email address?

In order to provide the best possible service to our users, we ask that you verify the alternate email address you provided during registration before you begin posting messages. As always, Yahoo! takes very seriously the privacy of our users' account information. We have made our full Privacy Policy available online.

If you have not already verified your alternate email address, when you try to post a message, you are taken to a validation page with a button labeled "Send Verification Now." Pressing this button sends a unique confirmation code to the alternate email address you entered at registration.

If you do not receive the email within a reasonable amount of time, you might not have entered a valid alternate email address or the message might have been sent to an account other than the one you expected. To verify or change your alternate email address, do the following:

  1. Click the "Change Address" button that appears after you click "Email Code Now."
  2. Enter your Yahoo! password and then update your alternate email address.
  3. Click the "Make Changes" button.

You should now receive the confirmation email.

When you do receive the message, simply follow the instructions provided to activate your account. Your confirmation code is located about half-way through the message.

If you have problems with this process, please let us know.
