Tips on writing a good message

Do your best to make sure each message you post is valuable to the topic/thread it is posted in. If you want other users to rate your messages highly, it is important to follow these tips:

  • Be detailed. Good messages include not only your opinion, but why you feel that way. Be objective and truthful.
  • Stay on the topic and keep it short. Comments that aren't specific to the topic you're posting about are annoying to other users and violate our Terms of Service. The recommended length is 250 to 500 words.
  • Have fun. Your opinion is worth something! Let the rest of the Web know what you have to share.
  • Don't assume that you're completely anonymous and can't be identified by your messages. Never assume people are who they say they are, know what they say they know, or are affiliated with whom they say they are affiliated. Yahoo! takes user privacy very seriously and will take reasonable measures to respect your privacy. However, under special circumstances, such as to comply with subpoenas and other legal obligations, Yahoo! might provide personally identifiable information that might include IP addresses.
  • Don't disregard the rules. When you post a message, you agree to abide by our Terms of Service. Messages that harass, abuse, or threaten; have obscene or otherwise objectionable content; have spam, commercial, or advertising content or links might be removed and might result in the loss of your Yahoo! ID (including email). Never assume that you're completely anonymous and can't be identified by your posts.
  • Don't reveal anything you wouldn't want the world to know. Be smart and use normal precautions when posting. Don't post real names, addresses, and phone numbers unless you want them to be available publicly.
