What is Yahoo! Address AutoComplete and how do I use it?

When you're starting to compose an email message, Yahoo! Address AutoComplete makes filling in the "To:" line quicker and easier by suggesting matches from your Yahoo! Contacts folder as you type.

Note: Yahoo! Address AutoComplete can only recognise contacts already entered in your Contacts folder.

Yahoo! Address AutoComplete works on Windows and Macintosh computers with the following browsers:

  • PC: IE 5.5 +, Netscape 7.2+, Mozilla 1.4+
  • Mac: Mozilla 1.4+, Firefox 2.x and newer, Safari 3.0 and newer

To use it:

  1. Click "Compose."
  2. In the "To:," "Cc:," or "Bcc:" field, start typing either the first name, last name, or nickname of a person in your Contacts folder (address book). For example, start typing "Jo…" and Yahoo! Address AutoComplete shows you all the Joes, Joannes, Johns, jogger24s, and so on in your Contacts list. Just click the person you want. You can also use the Up and Down Arrow keys on your computer’s keyboard to select an address and then press the Enter key to insert it.
  3. To add more addresses, put a comma after the address you entered first, then start typing a new contact.
