POP Yahoo! Mail with IncrediMail build 618 and Higher

Want to "POP" your Yahoo! Mail into your IncrediMail account? Here's how to do it:

  1. From the IncrediMail main window, click the "Tools" menu and select "Accounts."
  2. Click the "Add" button to create a new email account.
  3. The account wizard opens. Select the preference "Let me configure settings myself" and click "Next."
  4. Insert your name (as you would like it to appear on the emails you send) and your Yahoo! email address (user@yahoo.co.uk). Click "Next."
  5. IncrediMail attempts to automatically fill out the email server settings for you.
  6. Enter or verify that your incoming and outgoing servers are:
    • Incoming mail server: pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk
    • Outgoing mail server: smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk
  7. The next dialogue requests that you enter your Yahoo! ID and password.
  8. Click "Finish."

Important: The Yahoo! Mail SMTP server now requires authentication. To turn this setting on, follow these steps:

  1. From the Mail Accounts window, select your Yahoo! account and click "Properties."
  2. Click the "Servers" tab.
  3. Click the "My server requires authentication" field.
  4. Click "OK."

To control deletion of messages from the Yahoo! Mail server:

  1. From the IncrediMail main window, click the "Tools" menu and select "Accounts."
  2. Select your Yahoo! Mail account and click "Properties."
  3. Click "Advanced" tab.
  4. Check the "Leave a copy of messages on server" field. Or, if you want to delete the messages from your Yahoo! account after downloading them to IncrediMail, leave the box blank. No check.
  5. Click "OK."

A copy of the messages is (or is not, depending on whether you did or didn't check the "Leave a copy…" box) left on the Yahoo! server, allowing you to read them online in your Yahoo! account, too.
