Why is my password rejected when trying to check mail via an email client?

There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk', Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Error logging in. Please visit http://mail.yahoo.com', Port: 110, Secure (SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

Possible Causes:

  • The ability to access Yahoo! Mail via a POP3 email client is only available to customers of Mail Plus. If you have not purchased the Mail Plus service, you will be unable to retrieve messages via an email client (such as Outlook or Outlook Express). You can determine whether or not you've purchased this service by visiting Yahoo’s password-protected secure billing site.
  • If you've purchased Yahoo! Mail Plus, make sure you have the correct password entered in your email client. To test this, log in to your Yahoo! Mail account. Enter your Yahoo! ID and password. If you receive an "Invalid Password" error, then you'll need to change your password. When you change your password, return to the email client and make the appropriate changes.
  • The ability to access Rogers Yahoo! Mail via a POP3 email client is only available to customers of Mail Plus. If you have not purchased the Mail Plus service, you will be unable to retrieve messages via an email client (such as Outlook or Outlook Express). You can determine whether or not you've purchased this service by visiting the My Services page.
