If you wish to remain logged into Yahoo! Mail, but are having difficulties keeping yourself logged in, please follow the steps below to troubleshoot. The steps below will fix the most common problems that prevent you from staying logged into mail.
(Please note the following: One: Do not try this if you use a public/shared computer in an Internet Café, or if someone else uses your computer that you don't want them to access your Mailbox. Two: This is what we mean by "cookies")
- First off make sure that you check the box "Keep me signed in" on the login page of Yahoo! Mail. If you don't see that box and you see a box that says "Please verify your password", you'll need to click the link "Sign in as a different user". That will reset the login process so that you see the "Keep me signed in".
- Make sure you are using the correct URL/web address to access Yahoo! Mail. If you are using a desktop shortcut, bookmark, or browser Favorite to access the Yahoo! Mail sign-in page, or if you have Yahoo! Mail set as your home page, please make sure you are specifically going to http://uk.mail.yahoo.com and not a different URL that contains any additional characters. You might need to reset your bookmark to the above-mentioned URL.
- Third, you should check your account settings to make sure that you have your account set to keep you logged in for 2 weeks. To view if you have this set correctly click this link to check your account settings. Select "Every 2 Weeks" from the pick-list next to "Prompt for Password". Then click "Finished".
- Make sure that you have your Internet browser set to accept "cookies" from Yahoo!. A common cause for having to sign in all the time is that your Internet browser deletes your cookie when you close it. The location of where to find what happens with Cookies varies, but from Internet Explorer and Firefox it's under "Tools" then "Options" and then "Privacy". If your browser is deleting cookies from Yahoo! then you'll always be prompted to log into mail.
- Finally, make sure that your anti-virus/firewall software isn't blocking or deleting you Yahoo! cookies. For example, applications like Symantec 360 or Adaware can sometimes delete "temporary internet files" which may be deleting the cookie that tells Yahoo! whether or not to prompt you for your password. You should add Yahoo! to your list of safe sites (check the help pages of the application for help with this).
After confirming those five items you should now be kept logged in for 2 weeks at a time. Remember - don't do this if you use a computer in an Internet Café, or you share your computer with someone else.
