Above the chart display you will see a series of links "Basic," "Moving Average," "Technical Indicators," and "Intraday." Chart views allow investors quick and easy access to the charting capabilities they are looking for. Selecting "Technical Analysis," for instance, will provide access to technical analysis charting.
Here is a break-down of the charting capabilities each views provides:
Range, Type, Scale, Size, Comparison
Range (for 1 and 5-day)
Range, Type, Scale, Size, Simple and Exponential Moving Avgs (learn more about moving averages)
Range, Type, Scale, Size, Simple and Exponential Moving Avgs, Indicators, Overlays, Comparison (learn more about the technical indicators)
The "Moving Average" and "Technical Indicators" views allow you to introduce additional information to a chart. Selecting links from the "Moving Averages" and "Overlays" listings result in new data being superimposed over the intial price chart, while items selected from the "Indicators" list will result in supplementary charts being drawn below the main price chart.
Unlike the display settings, where only one option can be selected at a time, several moving averages, overlays, and indicators can be enabled at once. To do so, simply select the items you wish to enable by clicking on the appropriate link. When a moving average, overlay, or indicator is activated, it will be bolded and appear with an asterisk next to it. To toggle the selected item off, simply click the link a second time. If you wish to turn off all the selected moving averages, overlays, and indicators, simply click the "All Off" link.
Please note that a maximum four overlays and moving averages can be activated at any one time. If you have reached this limit and click on a new overlay or moving average, the most recent item selected will be enabled, and the oldest item selected will be turned off. The same limit applies to the indicators (four-item limit at any given time).
