To configure your alerts and sounds:

1. Open the "Messenger" menu in Yahoo! Messenger and select "Preferences."
2. Click the "Alerts & Sounds" category.
3. Select an alert from the list. You can configure any of the following alerts and sounds in Yahoo! Messenger:
• A Messenger contact comes online
• A Messenger contact goes offline
• A Messenger contact buzzes me
• I receive an Instant Message or Text Message
• I receive a personals alert
• I receive email in Yahoo! Mail
• I receive a Yahoo! Calendar reminder
4. Enable or disable the alert and sound options.
5. Click the "OK" button at the bottom of the window.

Please Note: You can disable all sound alerts. Uncheck the "Enable alert sounds" option.
