How do I add a photo to my listing?

Adding photos to your auction attracts potential bidders and improves your chance for a successful and profitable auction. You can add a total of 10 images to your auction. You can upload the first three images from your computer to our servers. If you need to add more than three, you can link to your images hosted on a different site (like Yahoo! Briefcase) in your auction description. Your images must be either JPEG or GIF files.

To upload the first three images from your computer to our servers:

  1. Click the "Add Photos" link on the item submission page.
  2. Click the "Browse" button. A new window pops up where you can select your images. In this new window, be sure to select "All Files (*.*)" from the "Files of type" pull-down menu at the bottom of the window so that all of your image files are available for upload. Locate and select your JPEG or GIF file. Then click the "Open" button. If you don't see a "Browse" button, you should upgrade to a more recent version of your browser.
  3. Click "Add Photo." There might be a delay while your picture is sent to us. When your picture is uploaded, the file name appears at the top of the page.
  4. For more than one photo, repeat these steps. You can upload a maximum of three photos to our server. If you want to add more, you can link to your online images in your item description. The total file size of all the photos may not exceed 1.5MB; the maximum recommended individual image size is 500KB or less. You can delete a photo by clicking the trash icon next to the file name. The first photo you upload is the thumbnail picture for the auction.
  5. Click "Done" when you have finished adding photos. This brings you back to the item submission page. You should then see the titles of the photos under the "Add Photo" link.

To use HTML to create links to additional online images:

  • If your images are already on another web site, the easiest way to display them is to link to them directly by adding a line of HTML code in your description that points to that web site's address and looks like this:
    <img src="http://www.yoursite.com/images/desk.gif">
  • Images in GIF or JPEG file formats typically work best and render more quickly on the page. Image file size must be 500KB or less.
  • Make sure the image source is not set as your background, otherwise the image does not appear.
