What are Open Apps and how do I add them?

Apps are fun or useful applications built by third-party developers for Yahoo!, such as the Weather App that appears on the default Yahoo! My Telecom page. You can personalize your Yahoo! My Telecom page by adding many different apps. Other examples of apps are games, a calorie counter, and a money management tool such as Personal Finance Manager. They can provide information on a number of subjects, help you connect friends and family, or provide hours of entertainment. You can easily add Apps to your Yahoo! My Telecom page.

What you can do in an app varies depending on the app, but generally speaking it's the basic stuff you can do on the app's full view page. It's easy to get to the full view page from an app, just click on the app's name in its title bar to make it larger.

Where can you get apps? You can find and add apps from several places:

• From the Yahoo! My Telecom content gallery
• From an App developer's site
• By someone sharing one with you

Here’s a sample of a Yahoo! My Telecom content gallery. We got to this one by clicking Content on our Yahoo! My Telecom page, and then clicking Open Apps in the right of the content gallery.

To add an Open App to your Yahoo! My Telecom homepage:

1. View the tab to which you want to add an app by clicking its name in the tab bar.
   
   
2. Click Content.The content gallery opens below the tab bar and displays a variety of content and ways to find additional content. To view Yahoo! applications that you can load from the Yahoo! My Telecom content gallery, click the Open Apps category name under Browse Content on the right.
   
   
   
   The content gallery for Open Apps will appear.
3. Scroll through the content by clicking the next and previous arrow buttons at the bottom of the gallery if they exist.
   
   
   
   You can preview a Yahoo! application before you add it, just like any other content, by moving the cursor over the item and then clicking the Show Preview link.
   
   

The next steps for adding a Yahoo! application to your Yahoo! My Telecom tab vary somewhat depending on whether you’re adding a new app or adding an app that you’ve already installed in My Apps.
