Mail settings

Everything you need to know about your mail settings in one location.

Settings Menu Choices

Access your Mail and Messenger settings, Themes options, and more.

Click the Settings menu icon to access:

  • Themes - Change the look of your Mail account.
  • Settings - Access the various Mail and Messenger settings.
  • Ad Free Mail - A pop-up window appears with more information about Ad Free Mail.
  • Help - Links to our Mail Help Pages.
  • Send Feedback - Give our Product Teams your feedback on Mail.
  • Privacy - View the Privacy Policy.
  • Legal - View Terms.
  • Copyright Notice - View Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy.
  • About our Ads - Learn about ads in Mail.
  • Account info - Access your account's options (like changing your password and personal info).

Mail Settings

Learn about available options in each Settings category.

While in the Settings Menu, select Settings to access:

  • Accounts - See your email address(es) and profile, change your password, create/remove an extra email address, view your storage, and more.
  • Viewing email - Change how your emails display, your default font settings, and much more.
  • Writing email - Save emails to your Sent folder, create a Signature, and view replying/forwarding options.
  • Vacation Response - Set up an auto response message.
  • Filters - Manage your filters.
  • Security - Learn about our security features including https and Disposable Addresses.
  • Blocked Addresses - Block and unblock email addresses from reaching your Mail account.
  • Messenger - Access your Messenger's options.

Single email actions

To view the options available for a single message:

  1. Open a single email.
  2. Click the Actions icon.
  3. You'll be able to:
    • Mark as read - Mark the email you've selected as having been viewed.
    • Mark as Unread - Mark the email you've selected as not yet viewed.
    • Star - Mark the email you're viewing with a star to easily locate it in the future.
    • Clear Star - Clear the star from the email being viewed.
    • Print Message - Open the email in a new window where you can print it.
    • Filter Emails Like This - A pop-up window appears where you can create a filter specifically for this type of email.
    • View Full Header - Complete header information for the email you're viewing appears in a pop-up window.
    • Set Language Encoding - Select character encoding for the individual email you're viewing.

Multiple email actions

To view the options available for multiple emails:

  1. Select the checkbox for multiple emails in a message list.
  2. Click the Actions icon.
  3. You'll be able to:
    • Mark as read - Mark the emails you've selected as having been viewed.
    • Mark as Unread - Mark the emails you've selected as not yet viewed.
    • Star - Mark the selected emails you've selected with a star to easily locate them in the future.
    • Clear Star - Clear the star from the emails you've selected.

View menu

Change your account's Theme, Preview Pane and Sort options, and more.

Click View at the top of your email list to access:

  • Themes - Change the theme of your Mail account.
  • Sort by - Sort your emails by Date, Unread, Attachments, and Starred.
  • Preview Pane - Set your preview pane to appear to the right or at the bottom of your email list, or not at all.

Message selection options

Choose which types of messages you select.

Click the Select options at the top of your email list to access these options:

  • All - Select all emails in the list. The default is 50 emails but can be increased by scrolling further down your email list and selecting All.
  • None - No emails are selected.
  • Unread - Select only unread emails.
  • Read - Select only previously read emails.
  • Starred - Select only starred emails.
  • Unstarred - Select only emails that aren't starred.
