If you prefer not to have a copy of your messages left on the
Yahoo! Mail server, you can configure your POP3 client to delete
them from the server.
To learn the steps, select from the list of supported
clients:
Microsoft Outlook 2002 &
2003(XP)
- From the Tools menu, choose "Email Accounts."
- Select the radio button next to "Add a new email account" and
click the "Next" button.
- Double-click the Yahoo! account.
- Select the "Advanced" tab.
- In the Delivery section at the bottom of the window, ensure the
box next to "Leave a copy of messages on server" is unchecked. If
you want to save your Yahoo! Mail messages on both the Yahoo! Mail
server and on your local computer, then check this box.
Microsoft Outlook 98 &
2000
- From the Tools menu, select "Accounts."
- Click on the "Mail" tab.
- Select your Yahoo! Mail account and click "Properties."
- Click on the "Advanced" tab.
- Check "Leave a copy of messages on server" if you want to save
your Yahoo! Mail messages on both the Yahoo! Mail server and on
your local computer. If you want your messages to be deleted from
the Yahoo! Mail server after you have received them in Outlook
Express, do not check this box.
- Click "OK."
- Close Microsoft Outlook, and restart.

Outlook Express
- From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
- Select the "Mail" tab.
- Double-click the account labeled "pop.mail.yahoo.com.ph."
- Select the "Advanced" tab.
- In the Delivery section at the bottom of the window, ensure the
box next to "Leave a copy of messages on server" is unchecked. If
you decide you want to save your Yahoo! Mail messages on both the
Yahoo! Mail server and on your local computer, check this
box.
Microsoft Outlook
Express for Macintosh
- From the Tools menu, choose "Account."
- Select the "Mail" tab.
- Double-click on your Yahoo! Mail account
- Select the "Options" tab.
- In the Server Options section at the bottom of the window,
ensure the box next to "Leave a copy of each message on the server"
is unchecked. If you want to save messages on both the Yahoo! Mail
server and your local client, this box should be checked.
Eudora Pro 5.1 and higher
- Click on the "Tools" menu and select "Options."
- Click the picture on the left that says "Incoming Mail."
- Ensure the box next to "Delete from server after..." is
unchecked. If you decide you want your messages to keep messages on
the Yahoo! Mail server once you have received them Eudora, check
this box.
Incredimail
- From the Tools menu, select "Accounts."
- Click on the "Mail" tab.
- Select your Yahoo! Mail account and click "Properties."
- Click on the "Advanced" tab.
- Ensure the box next to "Leave a copy of messages on server" is
unchecked. If you decide you want to save your Yahoo! Mail messages
on both the Yahoo! Mail server and on your local computer, check
this box.
Netscape
Mail 7.0
- From the Edit menu, select "Mail & Newsgroup Account
Settings."
- In the Account Settings window, select "Server Settings" in the
left-hand column.
- Toward the bottom of the window, ensure the box is unchecked
next to "Leave messages on server." If you want to keep a copy of
messages on the Yahoo! server and, check this box.
Netscape
Mail 6.2
- From the Edit menu, select "Mail & Newsgroup Account
Settings."
- In the Account Settings window, select "Server Settings" in the
left-hand column.
- Toward the bottom of the window, ensure the box is unchecked
next to "Leave messages on server." If you want to keep a copy of
messages on the Yahoo! server and, check this box.
Netscape
Mail 4.5
- To set POP3 mail server properties, click on the "Mail Server
Properties" panel and choose the "POP" tab.
- Ensure the box next to "Leave messages on server after
retrieval" is unchecked if you don't want to store messages on both
the Yahoo! Mail server and your computer.
- Also, uncheck the box next to "When deleting messages
locally..." if you want to prefer not to leave messages on the
Yahoo! Mail server.
- Click "OK."
