Search Views:

• Images: Searches for images, photos, illustrations, and icons from all over the Web and presents results ranked by algorithm. More info...
• Directory: Directory search results are sites from the Yahoo! Directory and are ranked by algorithm. The Directory is a human-created and maintained library of web sites organised into categories and subcategories. Sites that participate in Directory Submit pay for an expedited review for potential inclusion in the Directory. More info...
• Local: Local search results might contain listings that paid for placement. Those listings are separated into the Sponsored Businesses and/or Featured Listings sections of the page. Listings within the Local results might have financial relationships with Yahoo! but have not paid for placement. More info...
• News: News search results are sites derived from multiple sources that you can rank either by algorithm or date. More info...
• Products: Results might include products from other non-affiliated merchants. Many of the merchants and products included in Yahoo! Product Search results pay to be included in Yahoo! Shopping or have another financial relationship with Yahoo!. More info...

Search Box:
Start a search by typing descriptive words or phrases into the search box and either click the "Search" button or press the Enter key on your keyboard.

Advanced Search:
Advanced Web Search helps you structure your search to find sites that match very specific criteria. You can use it to limit your search to certain phrases, a specific language, or find sites that link to a URL. Number of Results:
Often you'll have multiple pages of web results. The total number of results we found is listed to the right of the section heading.

When other people have done searches similar to yours, we'll list these queries under the search box. One of these might help you narrow your results. Click a link to try one of these searches.

Sponsor Results:
Sponsor Results are sites that pay for placement in search results on keywords that are relevant to their business. These listings appear on Yahoo! Search results pages and other sections of Yahoo!. You see Sponsor Results when they're relevant to the specific search terms you used. For example, if you search for "digital cameras," you see Sponsor Results for web sites that provide information about or sell digital cameras. The Yahoo! Yahoo! Shortcuts:
You might see a relevant Yahoo! feature or service appear above results when it is a good match for your search. Also, if your search included a Yahoo! Shortcut keyword, such as map, weather, news, or define, the specific information you're looking for appear in this section. More about Yahoo! Shortcuts...

Web Results:
Web Results are the most relevant web pages found by Yahoo! Search found in response to your search terms. Web Results are generated from the billions of web pages discovered, crawled, and indexed by Yahoo! Search. More than 99% of web pages in the Yahoo! Search index are included for free through the web crawl process.

Web Results might also include links to sites that participate in the Content Acquisition Program (CAP). CAP enables content providers to submit web content directly to Yahoo! for review and inclusion in the Yahoo! Search index; content providers that participate in CAP through the Search Submit program pay for these services. Participation in CAP does not guarantee placement or ranking in search results.

Within web results you might also see:

• Open Link in a New Window: Click this icon to open the site in an additional browser window. Your Yahoo! Search results page remains in view.
• PDF: Result is a Portable Document Format (PDF).
• View as HTML: When a web result links to a PDF file, we give you the option to view the information as a web page instead of downloading the file. Your search terms are highlighted on the cached page to help you find the relevant content.
• Category: Any web result with a link labeled "Category:" under the description is also listed in the Yahoo! Directory. Click the category links to go to the Yahoo! Directory and browse a collection of sites on the same subject. Browsing an edited collection of like sites can be helpful in refining your search or finding something you hadn't thought of. • RSS/View as XML: Now web results include sites that support "RSS" or "Really Simple Syndication", a method used to access web content. You can use RSS with Yahoo! Portal to incorporate, gather, read, or quickly scan frequently updated headlines.
  Specific search results that have an associated RSS/XML feed returns two additional links:
• View as XML: A direct link to an XML feed for a specific RSS result. XML is a document markup language used to describe different types of information on the Web including RSS feeds. Note: Clicking this link displays raw XML markup within the browser. Don't be alarmed—you see a page of source that looks like HTML, designed to be read by software rather than by people.
• Add to Yahoo! Portal [Beta]: Automatically add the specific RSS feed to an RSS Headlines module on your My Yahoo! start page. More about RSS Headlines Module...
• URL: The web address of the result.
• Cached: A link to a copy of the page saved by the search engine, in case the site is unavailable. Your search terms are highlighted on the cached page to help you find the relevant content.
• More pages from this site: Search for the same term on pages within this particular site.
