How do I search for a specific URL, sub-page, or find sites that link to mine?

By using special keywords or Search Meta words. Meta words act as an instruction in search to give you results unique to that special keyword. You can enter these Meta words directly into the Yahoo! Search box.

To see if a site or page is listed in the Yahoo! Search Index:

  • site: finds all documents within a particular domain and all its subdomains.
    Example: site:yahoo.com
  • url: finds a specific document in our index. Note that the URL must include: http://
    Example: url:http://edit.autos.yahoo.com/repair/tree/0.html

There might be more than one form of a URL referencing the same web page. If you do not find the expected page using a URL: search, perform a search using the full page title or distinctive quoted text from the page.

To see on how many sites are linking to a site:

  • link: finds documents that link to a particular URL. Note that the URL must include: http://
    Example: link:http://autos.yahoo.com/
