Yahoo! Search

How do I find a message that I posted?

The search features on Yahoo! Message Boards can vary depending on the property you are using.

To search by Author using the Yahoo! Finance Stock Message Boards or boards that live within the Yahoo! Message Boards Directory:

  1. Click the "Advanced Search" link on the right side of the search bar. The search bar appears at the top of all message boards pages.
  2. Find the section called "Authored by."
  3. If you are logged in, you can select the profile you used to post your message from the list titled "Myself." If you are not logged in to your account, type the profile you used to post the message into the box titled "This user."
  4. Click the "Search" button to execute your search.

If the message you are looking for did not appear using Advanced Search, try the following:

  • Make sure there are no keywords entered into the primary search box. This limits your search to only messages that contain that keyword.
  • To the right of the keyword search box is a pull-down menu containing a list of boards and categories. Select "All Yahoo! Message Boards" in this list to ensure that you are searching all boards and not restricting your search to a single category.
  • In the Matching section select "Topics and Messages." This returns both topics you created as well as any replies you might have posted in response to a topic.
  • In the Sentiment section, select "Any."
  • In the Posted on section, make sure you select "Any date."

To search by Author for messages that were posted to message boards within Yahoo! Movies, Yahoo! Music, Yahoo! Travel, Yahoo! Avatars, Yahoo! Next, Yahoo! Education or Yahoo! Jobs please try the following:

  1. Click the "Advanced Search" link on the right side of the search bar. The search bar appears at the top of all message boards pages.
  2. Enter the profile you used to post the message into the keyword search box and check the box to search Within "Author." Use the pull-down menu to search within a specific board or category and click the "Search" button to see posts made by that author.

Yahoo! reserves the right, but not the obligation, to remove messages it finds objectionable, particularly those containing advertisements, phone or pager numbers, profanity, insults, threats of violence, or other offensive material.
