Proxy settings

If you access the Internet through a proxy server you may need to make some changes to your media player configuration:

I. Windows Media Player:

A. For Windows Media Player 6.4 for the PC:

  1. Click on "View" located on the Windows Media Player toolbar.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Click on the Advanced tab.
  4. Make sure Streaming Media (Windows Media) is highlighted. Click "Streaming Media (Windows Media)" to highlight.
  5. Click the "Change.." button.
  6. Verify that, at the bottom of the page, the HTTP option is checked.
  7. If you already know that your web browser is configured to use a web proxy, select the option labeled "Use Browser Settings". If you know the proxy address and port number follow the directions directly below:
    • Select "Use Proxy".
    • Click the "Configure Proxy Settings" button.
    • Insert the proxy address and insert the correct port number, either 80 or 8080.
    • Click OK.
  8. Click OK to return to the Advance Options dialog box.
  9. Click OK to return to the Windows Media Player.
  10. Click OK.
B. For Windows Media Player 7, 8 and 9 for the PC:
  1. Click on "Tools."
  2. Select "Options" from the drop-down menu.
  3. Click the "Network" tab.
  4. Locate the Proxy Settings area.
  5. Double-click on "HTTP Browser."
  6. Select the "Use browser proxy settings" option.
  7. Click "OK."
  8. Click "OK."
C. For Windows Media Player 7.1 for the Macintosh:
  1. Select Edit from the Preferences menu.
  2. Select Use Proxy for HTTP Streaming
  3. Enter the name of your proxy server and the port number. If you do not know what to enter, contact your Network Administrator.
If you are certain that you are not using a proxy server, make certain that your Windows Media Player is set to use 'No Proxy', as this can cause connection issues if there is no proxy set within your browser.

LAUNCHcast is also not currently compatible with SOCKS proxy servers, so you will need to disable this connection type within your browser in order to connect if this is your current menthod.
