One of the core features of Groups is a mailing list, so many users start using Groups by email before they access the service on the Web.
For instance, you might have joined a group's mailing list via the "subscribe" command or by giving your email address to the group owner and requesting to be added to the group. In either case, you could be receiving email messages from a group but still not see the group show up on your My Groups page. Furthermore, when you visit the group home page, it might say that you are not a member.
When you join a Yahoo! Group, your membership is associated with a specific email address. If that email address isn't connected to the Yahoo! ID you use to access the group on the Web; is not verified; or is connected to more than one of your Yahoo! IDs, some of your group memberships may not be displayed on the My Groups page.
The Membership Wizard can help you locate your group memberships using the information listed in your Account Info. Linking your Groups account associates it with a Yahoo! ID.
Who should link their accounts?
-
-
Former Clubs users -- While you probably already have a Yahoo! ID, you may wish to use other or additional email addresses for memberships to Groups. The Membership Wizard will help you add those addresses to your account.
-
Former eGroups users -- You will need to enter your eGroups email address and password, and either associate it with an existing Yahoo! ID or register for a new one.
If you just want to participate by email, you don't have to do anything to change the way you interact with the service.
If you want to access all of your group's web features, simply follow the steps on our Yahoo! Groups Membership Wizard.
-
Email-only users -- These are users who are receiving mail from a Yahoo! Group (groupname@yahoogroups.ca) but who have never signed into the web site to use the many web features of Yahoo! Groups.
You can access your group's web site by associating your current email subscription with a Yahoo! ID. All you have to do is use our Membership Wizard.
Do I have to link my account(s)?
No. You only need to link your account if you need use the web site to manage your group, or to access web features that are designated for members only by your group owner.
For example, email-only subscribers can read and post to their groups without having to log in to the web site, so they won't need to link their accounts to a Yahoo! ID. However, those who normally post using the web form would have to go through the Membership Wizard process.
I had multiple accounts with eGroups. Can I link them all?
Yes! Just click on Add new email address in the Membership Wizard to link up to five email addresses to your Yahoo! ID.
What are the advantages of linking my account?
By associating multiple email addresses with your Yahoo! ID, you can easily manage all of your accounts with one login. Now you don't have to sign in and out to see your different subscriptions.
