How is the Yahoo! Canada Directory organized?

The Yahoo! Canada Directory is an online guide to the World Wide Web. It is created by a staff of editors who visit and evaluate web sites, and then organize them into subject-based categories and sub-categories.

Yahoo! editors distinguish between a number of factors when organizing web sites, including commercial vs. non-commercial, regional vs. global, and so forth. All of the site listings in the Directory are contained in an appropriate place within the 14 main categories seen on the front page of Yahoo! Canada:

Business & Economy
Computers & Internet
Education
Entertainment
Government
Health

Recreation & Sports

Where applicable, each Directory category also includes links to services and features available on the Yahoo! Network. For example, the Sports categories include links to relevant information from Yahoo! Canada Sports.

You can browse the Directory by clicking through the links, or you can search for sites about a specific subject. To search the Directory, go to search.yahoo.ca and click on the Directory link on the left side of the page. Then type the words you're looking for in the search box and click "Search."

Your results will contain a list of categories and sites listed in the Yahoo! Canada Directory related to your search terms. If you click on one of the related Directory categories, you'll see a hand-edited list of sites all about that subject.

Also, if you use Yahoo! to search the entire Web (by starting your search on the front page or clicking on the "Web" tab at search.yahoo.ca), you'll often see Directory listings on your Web Results page. Directory listings are marked with a link labeled " More sites about." If you click on this link, you can go to the Yahoo! Directory category in which that site is listed.
