How do I download the Rogers Yahoo! Online Protection software?

Download is the first phase of a four-phase process of getting new Rogers Yahoo! Online Protection software: download, installation, activation, and initial scanning. Allow 20 minutes for the entire process; allow more time for less than broadband speeds.

To download the Yahoo! Online Protection software, follow these steps:

1. Save any open files and close all open programs.
2. Launch Internet Explorer or the Rogers Yahoo! Browser.
3. Go to http://rogers.software.yahoo.com/getprotected and follow the instructions displayed, including reading and accepting license agreements. Make sure all windows are in view.
4. If instructed, run the Rogers Yahoo! Software Centre Detection Program.

You will have a choice of these options:

• Norton Security Online
• Parental Controls

The software downloads and installs. Rogers Yahoo! Software Centre shows the progress of the downloading and installation.

If you have already uninstalled the Rogers Yahoo! Online Protection software and are having difficulty reinstalling, then click here to perform an additional uninstall of the software.

After the software installation completes, the window shows a Finish button.

If you chose Norton Security Online as well as Parental Controls, do the following:

1. Click Finish.
   A second Rogers Yahoo! Software Centre opens.
2. Click Continue.
3. Provide a computer name.
4. Click Continue.
5. Follow directions in the activate and configure windows and Set Up Rogers Yahoo! Parental Controls. The window gives the status of the activation of services within Rogers Yahoo! Online Protection:
• Your antivirus license is activated. This enables Norton AntiVirus to receive updates and function properly.
• The Norton Personal Firewall Service activates. During this step, messages about rules can start springing up from the message tray. That means the firewall is going into effect. The messages will sink back down into the system tray if you don't get around to closing them. Also, the firewall can start opening Program Alert windows. Click OK in the Program Alert window with the option selected.
• Installation of Yahoo! Parental Controls is confirmed. You will need to set up Parental Controls later at your convenience.
6. Click Update.
7. Follow directions in the LiveUpdate windows
8. Click Finish after LiveUpdate is finished downloading and installing updates.
9. Click OK to restart the computer if instructed.
   The computer shuts down and then restarts. Log on to Windows as needed. The desktop appears, and the Rogers Yahoo! Online Protection icon appears in the system tray near the clock. If there are more tasks to perform, the icon is a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in the middle.
10. Double-click the icon in the system tray. The dashboard for Rogers Yahoo! Online Protection opens.
11. Click a dashboard tile that has a yellow triangle and click its button. Typically, these are the Norton Antispyware and Norton AntiVirus Scan Now buttons. The time the scans take depends on the size and number of disk drives in your computer, although it should be no more than a few minutes.
12. In Quick Scan and Full System Scan windows, examine the three numbers under the total. Click Finish.
    

The entire process of download, installation, activation, and initial scanning is now finished. Rogers Yahoo! Online Protection opens, providing a console or dashboard of clickable names for each of the activated functions.
