If I change my child's access level, what happens to the customizations I made?

The information you added is retained, although the options for features and services are reset to the defaults for the new level.

This applies to any change of access level to Kids, Teens, or Mature Teens. Any web sites, email addresses, or friends that you've given your child permission to use are retained. The change resets features of Rogers Yahoo! Messenger and Rogers Services, as well as turning off the Report Card and the Online Timer.

For example, suppose the following:

  • You first set your child's account to the Kids access level.
  • You modified the Messenger settings to allow access to the PC2Phone feature.
  • You added a number of friends to your child's Friends List.
  • Today is your child's 13th birthday, and it's time for the Teens access level.

If you change your child's setting to the Teens access level, the change turns off access to PC2Phone, although it does not delete the people you added to your child's Friends List. A complete list of the default settings is in the more info link on the Access Level page for each family member. Further explanation is in the article about how the settings compare.

To protect your family with these features, you must create accounts for each member. Furthermore, you must install and activate a program on each PC used.
