What is the meaning of “We can’t determine if Parental Controls are installed on this computer.” on the Settings Summary page?

It means you are viewing your Yahoo! Parental Controls settings with a browser that isn't Rogers Yahoo! Browser or Internet Explorer.

It doesn’t mean that Yahoo! Parental Controls isn’t working. It simply means that the page can’t figure out that Yahoo! Parental Controls software has been installed on the hard drive of your computer. The software supports the Web Filter feature of Yahoo! Parental Controls. This doesn't compromise the network-based features that protect your child from Mail and Messenger abuse.

Note: To better understand how Rogers Yahoo! Parental Controls work, refer to the tutorial “Getting Started with Parental Controls.” This tutorial provides a good introduction to this service.

The network-based protection is always available for Rogers Yahoo! Mail, Rogers Yahoo! Messenger, and Rogers Yahoo! Hi-Speed Internet Services. If you want to know whether Web Filtering for members of your family is active or not, try viewing the page with the Rogers Yahoo! Browser or Internet Explorer. These browsers can show you if the software that does Web Filtering has been activated on the computer. Otherwise, you will keep seeing the message “We can’t determine if Parental Controls are installed on this computer”.

The Rogers Yahoo! Browser or Internet Explorer should be used to download, install, and activate Rogers Yahoo! Parental Controls on your computer to perform Web Filtering.

To protect your family with these features, you must create accounts for each member. Furthermore, you must install and activate a program on each PC used.
