How do I let my child exchange instant messages with anyone they want?

Initially, the Kids and Teens settings categories restrict your child to sending instant messages to people in their Friends List. As the parent, you can edit this list. Your child cannot add people to this list without your permission.

If you want to let your child freely exchange messages with anyone, do the following:

1. Go to Parental Controls.
2. Click on the appropriate child's name.
3. Click Edit Settings for Messenger.
4. Make sure the option Restrict Messenger communication to Friends List only is UNchecked.
5. Click Save Settings if you've made any changes.

To access Yahoo! Parental Controls, navigate to http://ypc.yahoo.com.
