How do I restrict my child to sending messages only to people I approve?

By default the Kids and Teens settings automatically restrict your child to sending instant messages to people in their Friends List. As the parent, you can edit this list. Your child cannot add people without your permission.

This setting is not on by default for the Mature Teens access level.

To turn this setting on:

1. Go to Parental Controls.
2. Click on the appropriate child's name.
3. If the child is set to Full Access, choose and save a different access level before continuing.
4. Click Edit Settings for Messenger.
5. Make sure the option for Restrict Messenger communication to Friends List only is checked.
6. Click Save Settings if you've made any changes.
