How do I approve or deny requests my child has made for new email addresses?

First, do these two things:

  • Make sure you have selected the setting Restrict Yahoo! Mail communication to address book contacts only in the Email Settings of your child's Parental Controls settings.
  • In the page summarizing your child's settings, click the link Edit Address Book in the Email area. In the page that opens, click the name or names of the unwanted email source or sources and click Delete.

To check the setting and edit the Address Book, you can navigate to the Yahoo! Parental Controls Settings Summary page at http://ypc.yahoo.com.

After that, if your child has sent you a Permission Slip for a new contact, you can deny the request to add a source you don't want your child to have.

To do this:

  1. Go to Parental Controls.
  2. Click the name of the child.
  3. Click Go to Permission Slips.
  4. Select all the relevant items and click Deny.

To protect your family with these features, you must create accounts for each member.
