How do I uninstall my old anti-virus product?

You use the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs utility; the path is Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. To do this, follow these steps, although keep in mind that there are slight variations between versions of Microsoft Windows:

  1. Click Start in the lower left of the screen. This opens a list of items.
  2. Move the cursor to the item Settings. A second list opens.
  3. Move the cursor to the item Control Panel. A third list opens.
  4. Click Add/Remove Programs. This opens a window for this utility, and it builds a list of the software installed on your computer.
  5. Scroll through the list and find the name of the anti-virus product.
  6. Select the name. This expands the list with a panel of details about the program.
  7. Click Change/Remove in the details panel. This usually opens a separate window for uninstalling the product; follow the instructions in this window.
  8. When uninstallation is finished, close the windows for the uninstaller and Add/Remove Programs if necessary.
