What do I need to do about Rogers Yahoo! Parental Controls and Microsoft Windows Vista? |
Rogers Yahoo! Parental Controls, when properly set up, can protect the child from unwanted messages in Rogers Yahoo! Mail and Rogers Yahoo! Messenger when he or she uses these services with a Microsoft Windows Vista computer.
If as a parent you want to further protect your child from unwanted Internet content, turn on the content filtering in the Parental Controls control panel in Microsoft Windows Vista. This control panel also enables control of the hours that children can use the computer as well as which programs, including games, they can run.
To use these features, you must have an Administrator account on Microsoft Windows Vista, and you must set up a standard user account for each of your children. For more information, use the Help links in the Parental Controls control panel window.
To start Vista Parental Controls:
It is important that you understand that Microsoft Windows Vista's Parental Controls and Yahoo! Parental Contols work separately. There is no communication or co-ordination between these two Parental Control applications. Changing the settings in the one application has no effect on the protection level in the other.
Please note that an upgrade to or new purchase of a computer with Microsoft Windows Vista discontinues Rogers Yahoo! Parental Controls from protecting your child from web pages you don't want them to see. Use Vista's own Parental Controls to block web pages.
