What’s an administrator?

There are three classes of users: owners, administrators, and members.

  • Owners: An owner is the individual who purchased the domain. There can only be one owner of a domain at a time, and owners can never be removed. Owners can adjust domain information, create administrators, create new email addresses, delete email addresses, and adjust the email address quota for a domain.
  • Administrator: An administrator is promoted when either an owner or another administrator promotes them through the Administration Management tool. Administrators can promote other administrators, create new email addresses, and delete email address (excluding any email addresses the owner holds). Administrators cannot adjust the quota or remove the owner of a domain. Choose your admins well! Administrators must have a existing email address at the domain that they wish to administer.
  • Member: A member holds an email address. Members may only delete their own email address. Members have no other privileges.

Important: When a user has been made an administrator of a domain, they can delete or initiate changes for any address within that domain. Only assign administrator permissions to users that you trust. An administrator can't delete any email addresses that belong to the owner of the domain.
