What’s the Reading Pane?

When you open your Inbox or any folder, you’ll see two areas in the middle of the window. On top is a list of messages. Below this list is the Preview Pane, also known as the Reading Pane.

When you click a message in the list, you can read the message text in the Reading Pane. Now, you don’t have to click back and forth between reading messages and viewing them as a list in your Inbox. You can see both at the same time!

Adjust the size of the Reading Pane by placing your pointer on top of the line between the message list and the Preview Pane. See how the pointer turns into an up-arrow/down-arrow? Click and pull it down to shrink the Preview Pane, or push it upward to make the Preview Pane larger.

To close the Reading Pane, click “Hide Pane” in the upper-right corner of the message header – the purple area above the message text. See it? You can always bring it back by clicking “View” from the toolbar at the top of your Inbox and selecting “Reading Pane”. Guess what? You can also just type “v”.

If you double-click a message in the list, Rogers Yahoo! Mail opens that message in an entirely new tab. See the tab along the top? It’s labelled with the title of the message.
