I already receive POP mail from another account, how do I send too?

If you already receive messages from an external email account, with Rogers Yahoo! Mail Plus you can also send from that address.

Rogers Yahoo! Mail Plus allows you to add accounts to send from two ways:

1. Add accounts using the setup wizard

You can configure Rogers Yahoo! Maill Plus to send all your email from one place. You can also retrieve email from your POP email accounts.

An account with POP access is one that you are able to access through an external email client such as Outlook, Thunderbird, Eudora, Netscape Mail or other desktop clients. Follow the instructions below to add settings for another email account. Rogers Yahoo! Mail Plus can store settings for up to 5 different accounts at one time.

To add an account using the setup wizard:

  1. Click the Mail Options link on the top-right side of the screen, and then click Mail Accounts located under the Management column.
  2. Click the Add Button on the Mail Accounts page.
  3. Enter a name for the account, for example, Work, School, etc. Then click Continue.
  4. Enter the "From" name you wish to have appear to your recipients in the "Name" field.
  5. Enter the email address you wish to send from in the "Email" field. Note: You are required to verify that you own this account.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. *The following steps are only required if you wish to receive mail from this account. If you don't want to receive mail from this account, click the "Skip This Step" button at the bottom of the page.

  8. Enter your POP mail server name (only POP mail servers are supported at this time).
  9. Enter your user name and password. Note: The user name is different than your email address. Typically it is the text in your email address before the "@" symbol. Your password is whatever you use to access your external mail account and not necessarily your Yahoo! password.
  10. Select an indicator color to mark messages received from this account.
  11. Click the Setup Mail Server button.
  12. You are required to verify that you own this account. Clicking the Send Verification button will send the verification letter to the email address you are adding. Once you receive the verification letter, enter the Confirmation Code along with your Yahoo! password on the following page. Upon verification, your new account will be added.

Now that you've added another account to send mail from, how do you do it?

On your Compose screen, you will now have a "From" pull-down menu located above the "To:" field. Select an address you wish to mail from on the pull-down menu.

If you prefer to send from one address more often than another, you can set an address as default by doing the following:

  1. From the Mail Accounts page, click once on the address you would like set as your default address.
  2. In the account information display to the right, click the Make Default link.

Rogers Yahoo! Mail will retrieve messages from your external (POP) mail accounts only when you request it.

Currently, you can't configure Rogers Yahoo! Mail to retrieve messages from a web-based email account such as a RocketMail or another Rogers Yahoo! Mail account that hasn't been set up for POP access. However, you can add an existing Rogers Yahoo! Mail account to your Mail Accounts list to send from.

Rogers Yahoo! Mail Customer Care doesn't know and can't provide you with the server name, port number, user name, or password for your external mail account. For assistance tracking down this information, contact your ISP or network administrator.

2. Configure accounts manually
