Yahoo!7 Mail is a web-based email system. Your email messages, address book, and other account information are stored on our servers, rather than on your computer. Because of this, simply viewing your Yahoo!7 Mail does not make your computer vulnerable to regular computer viruses.
However, it is possible for HTML email messages to be sent which contain malicious JavaScript code, Active X, or other scripts which may run and take advantage of security vulnerabilities in your browser software. For that reason, it is extremely important that you continually upgrade your browser and check with the publisher for patches. You may also turn off scripting in most browsers. The help documentation for your browser will tell you how.
Attachments sent along with email are not a threat to your system if you do not download them. However, if you choose to download an attachment by either opening it or saving it to your computer, your computer does then become vulnerable to computer viruses. (The same is true of all files you download to your computer, whether email attachments or not.)
It is generally recommended that you do not download attachments or other files from a source that you do not know and trust and that you use one of the many antivirus programs available. Following these suggestions should reduce your likelihood of experiencing trouble from computer viruses.
