How do I search for a specific URL, sub-page, or find sites that link to mine?

By using special keywords or search "Meta" words, you can format a search specifically designed to find a URL, subpage, or sites that link to your pages. Using the examples below, you can customize a "Meta" search and enter it directly into the Yahoo!7 Search box.

To see if a site or page is listed in the Yahoo!7 Search Index:

  • site: finds all documents within a particular domain and all its subdomains.
    Example: site:au.yahoo.com
  • url: finds a specific document in our index. (Note that the URL must include:  http://)
    Example: url:http://au.finance.yahoo.com/investing

There might be more than one form of a URL referencing the same web page. If you do not find the expected page using a URL search, perform a search using the full page title or distinctive quoted text from the page.

To see on how many sites are linking to a site:

  • link: finds documents that link to a particular URL. (Note that the URL must include:  http://)
    Example: link:http://au.movies.yahoo.com/
