An Icebreaker is a free, one-time message any ad poster can send to another ad poster to let them know they're interested! Recipients of Icebreakers can respond with a free one-time reply. You do not need to be a subscriber to send or respond to Icebreakers but you will need to subscribe if you want to continue communicating.

To send an Icebreaker, you first need to post an ad. After you have posted your ad, view the ad details of a poster and send an Icebreaker by clicking the "Break the Ice" link.

Choose a message you'd like the recipient to receive; Yahoo!7 Dating sends this message along with your ad to the recipient's v Mailbox. A copy of your Icebreaker is also saved to your Yahoo!7 Dating Mailbox.

How do I read/receive an Icebreaker?

Every registered Yahoo!7 Dating user has a Yahoo!7 Dating Mailbox that allows private correspondence in the form of Icebreakers or messages between Yahoo!7 Dating users.

To read Icebreakers in your Yahoo!7 Dating Mailbox:

1. Go to the Yahoo!7 Dating home page. You must be logged in.
2. Click the "New Messages" link in the My Personals Status area. If you do not have any new messages, you can always view your existing connections and Icebreakers by clicking the Mailbox link in the navigation at the top of the page.
3. Then, click on the connection or the More link to read the entire message.
4. Even if you decide you're not interested in that person, it is a good idea to send a quick, courteous reply to say "Thanks but no thanks."

How do I reply to an Icebreaker?

To reply to an Icebreaker with an email, you must subscribe by clicking the Subscribe to Reply button below the message. Follow the directions to subscribe.

To send a free one-time reply to an Icebreaker that you've received in your Mailbox, you must view the Icebreaker message. If you are not a subscriber, you can respond with a Quick Reply by clicking the "Select a Quick Reply" from the Select a Quick Reply dropdown. Follow the directions on the reply page.

If you are a subscriber, you can email the person directly by clicking the "Write a Reply" button at the top of the Icebreaker message. A copy of your Icebreaker response is saved to your Yahoo!7 Dating Mailbox. You may also send a quick reply by selecting from the Select a Quick Reply dropdown.
