What is the difference between "Private," "Public," and "Show as Busy" events?

The "Private," "Public," and "Show as Busy" permissions for your calendar events determine how the events appear to others viewing your shared calendar. When you first set up your calendar, the default event type is set to "Private."

Set an event to "Public" if you want others to see the title, description, time, etc., for the event. Set an event to "Show as Busy" if you want others to know that you are busy during that time but don't necessarily want them to know what you're doing. And set the event to "Private" if you do not want others to see that you have an event scheduled during that time.

Many people find it useful to set their default permission to the types of events they create most often. For example, if others use your calendar frequently to schedule meetings with you, you might want to set your default to "Show as Busy." If your calendar is used to publish a schedule to a large group, you might want to set the default event permission to "Public."
