Upgrade Tips and Checklist

Before Your Account is Upgraded:

  • Please ensure that all of your contact information is accurate and up-to-date.
    You will be receiving important updates, news and information before your upgrade via email. To ensure that you will receive all necessary information regarding your future account upgrade and the new platform, we need accurate contact information for you.
  • Look out for an email from Yahoo! Search Marketing with your individual upgrade date.
    You will be notified via email one week in advance of your opportunity to preview your account in the new Sponsored Search.
  • Download your current listings.
    To retain a record of your current listings, we advise you to download all of your listings as they currently appear in your account to a spreadsheet for future reference.
  • Categorise your ads in your current account.
    To help ensure a smooth transition to the new Sponsored Search, we suggest that you create categories now where you would like to have campaigns in the new structure. Consider such categories as: Marketing goal, product variations or types, products vs. services, etc.
  • Check the Upgrade Centre regularly.
    Visit the Upgrade Centre for the most up-to-date info on the upgrade. Here you will find links to an extensive Help Centre, Tutorials and more.
  • Do not change your password.
    To ensure that your password is the same for your new account as your current account, we recommend that you do not change your password before the upgrade.
  • Check the editorial status page.
    Since pending listings will not be transferred to your new account, please note any pending listings that you may want to resubmit for approval after your account has been upgraded.

During Account Preview and Upgrade

  • Log into your current account.
    There will be a notification in your current account, as well as via email, of your opportunity to preview your account in the new Sponsored Search, at least one week in advance. You will be able to access your new account preview through your current account.
  • Click the “Preview” button in the alert in your current account.
    This will give you access to a read-only version of how your account will appear in the new account structure.
  • Click the “Upgrade Now” button to proactively begin your upgrade.
    Once you are familiar with how your account looks in the new account structure, click the “Upgrade Now” button in your current account to begin your upgrade and start taking advantage of all that the new Sponsored Search will offer after the upgrade is complete.
  • Control the time of your upgrade by proactively upgrading your account.
    Consider clicking the “Upgrade Now” button at the end of a business day, because although on average, accounts will be upgraded within eight hours; accounts with more listings may take up to 24-48 hours. If you have questions, please contact us.

After Your Account is Upgraded

  • Log into your new Sponsored Search Account at
    Log in with your existing username and password. Note: If you recently changed your password, it may not be reflected in your new account. If you do not remember your password, please contact us.
  • Familiarise yourself with your new Sponsored Search account.
    Check the organisation of your new account and reorganise if necessary.
  • Check your Sponsored Search and Content Match bids.
    Verify all bids and make any changes as necessary. Please note that if you have Content Match turned on, you may want to consider creating separate campaign(s) for this product.
  • Check to see if you need to resubmit any listings that were pending just before the upgrade.
    Pending listings do not transfer to your new account, so you would need to resubmit those listings.
  • Try out some of the new Sponsored Search features that will help you achieve even better results from your search marketing account.
