Errors when trying to view or broadcast a webcam

Description
This article explains what to do if you can't share or view a webcam broadcast, or receive an error message stating that you're behind a firewall or proxy server.
Cause
Using a webcam through a proxy server is not supported.
Resolution
To check your Yahoo! Messenger connection settings:
- Click the Messenger menu and select Preferences. The Yahoo! Messenger Preferences window opens.
- Click Connection under Category at the left. The Connection settings information displays to the right.
- Verify that the option for Connect directly to the Internet is selected.
- Click Apply | OK.
- Close Yahoo! Messenger and then sign in again.
NOTE: Your firewall must permit outgoing TCP connections on port 5100. Make sure your firewall has these settings:
- Protocol: TCP
- Server: webcam.yahoo.com
- Port: 5100
