Method 1: To call someone on your Messenger List:
- Hover over the contact's name on your Messenger List and a down arrow will appear at the right.
- Click the down arrow and select Start Voice Call. You'll hear a ringtone while waiting for your contact to answer.
- When you're done with your call, click the End Call button in the Conversation window.
Method 2: During an instant message conversation:
- Start an instant message conversation with someone.
- Click the Voice Call button in the toolbar of the Conversation window. You'll hear a ringtone while waiting for your contact to answer.
- When you're done with your call, click the End Call button in the Conversation window.
Method 3: Using the Actions menu:
- On the "Actions" menu, click Start Voice Call and the "Start a Voice Call" window will open.
- Choose the appropriate tab:
- For contacts on your Messenger List, click the My Contacts tab and then select the contact's name.
- For someone not on your Messenger List, click the Other Contact tab and then enter the contact's Yahoo! ID.
- Click OK. You'll hear a ringtone while waiting for your contact to answer.
- When you're done with your call, click the End Call button in the Conversation window.
Note: The first time you make a call, Yahoo! Messenger will open the "Yahoo! Screen and Voice Setup" assistant to help you optimize the call quality of your microphone, speakers, and webcam.
Important: Calls to 911 or other emergency calling services are not available on Yahoo! Messenger. Please inform anyone using your Yahoo! Messenger that they must call 911 or other emergency calling services with a regular telephone or mobile phone.
