How to Adjust Your Messenger Webcam Image Quality

Description

This article provides troubleshooting steps for how to fix, improve or tweak your webcam picture.


Resolution

To adjust the image quality of your webcam:

  1. Select the Messenger menu | select My Webcam. The My Webcam window opens.
  2. On the My Webcam window, select the File menu | select Preferences.
  3. Under Category at the left:
    - For Yahoo! Messenger 9 and older:
       - Click Webcam.
    - For Yahoo! Messenger 10 and newer:
       - Click Webcam Broadcast.
  4. Click Camera Settings. The Video Source window opens.
  5. Select the Device Settings tab in the Video Source window.
  6. Move the slider to adjust the controls for your webcam image:
    - Brightness
    - Contrast
    - Hue
    - Saturation
    - Sharpness
    - White balance
    - Gamma
    - Backlight composition

    Note: You can click Cancel if you don't like the changes you've made and try again.
     
  7. Click Apply to see your changes in the My Webcam window.
  8. Click OK when you're satisfied with the results.
