Why you may be asked to enter your passport information
Resolution
If you are traveling to an international destination, you will likely be asked to provide your passport information upon booking. Here are a few instances when/why this may apply:
- If you're traveling to an international destination, you need to prove your citizenship several times during your travels, including when you check in for both departure and return flights as well as entering and leaving all countries listed on your itinerary. If the itinerary requires passport identification and the information is not provided upon purchase, the package is held for ticketing until you call our Customer Care Center to provide your passport number.
- Some airlines require us to gather passport numbers and country of citizenship for all travelers before they'll issue a ticket. If your itinerary requires this information, you must either enter your passport country and number online or call our Customer Care Center to provide the information in order to finalize your purchase.
- In nearly all cases, you need a government-issued passport that will not expire for at least six months. For U.S. passport and visa requirements and application forms, please visit the U.S. Department of State Passport Services. (Note: The name on each passport must exactly match the name(s) in the reservation.)
