Changing your Yahoo! Messenger status using Yahoo! Toolbar for Internet Explorer

ID: SLN4713
Refers to: Toolbar

Resolution

In Yahoo! Toolbar for Internet Explorer, the "My Status" menu item of the Yahoo! Messenger button displays the status message that is currently being shown to your contacts in Yahoo! Messenger, and allows you to change it easily.

To change your status message:

  1. Click the Yahoo! Messenger icon on your Yahoo! Toolbar.
  2. Click My Status.
  3. Select the status you want to use (Busy, Invisible, etc.).

Any custom status messages you've already created in Yahoo! Messenger are displayed at the bottom of the list of status messages in the toolbar. However, if you want to add a new custom status message, you must use Yahoo! Messenger to do so.

If you're not signed in to Yahoo! Messenger, you can quickly sign in by clicking the Sign Into Messenger link under the "Messenger Status: Offline" menu item.

If you have Yahoo! Messenger installed but don't have the Messenger button on your toolbar, you can add it to your Yahoo! Toolbar.

Additional Information

The Yahoo! Messenger button requires Yahoo! Messenger 7.0 or newer. To check the version of your Yahoo! Messenger client, select About Yahoo! Messenger from the Help menu.

Note: The Yahoo! Messenger button is not supported in Yahoo! Toolbar for Firefox.
