Description

This article describes Search Direct and gives detailed steps for disabling search suggestions.

Resolution

When you type a search query in the search box, Search Direct displays a "dynamic" tray below the search box. As you type into the search box, Search Direct displays suggestions to help you complete your search and find your answers quickly. This is an automated process.

  • Clicking on a suggestion in the tray will take you to a search results page for that term.
  • In some markets, the tray may also display answers and rich content from Yahoo! properties or other websites and resources around the web. With this enhanced functionality, hovering over any of the suggested terms with your pointer displays new content in the right side of the tray. You may see answers, enhanced links, Shortcuts, or other rich content, including icons, images, and related information, and you may click on that content to explore it further on the Yahoo! network or another site on the web.

Note: There is a possibility that your search term has no suggestions to display in the tray.

  • In some markets, if you have an empty search box or the search box is cleared at any point in your search, the current top trending search queries and phrases may be displayed. This information is aggregated across the Yahoo! Search network.
