Why are there three sections for baseball (MLB, AL, and NL)?

ID: SLN6101

Resolution

Unlike most other sports, the two baseball leagues in the United States—American and National—actually function as distinct entities with different rules, records, and traditions.

Many fans primarily follow one league, and many fantasy games use only the teams and players from one league. Therefore, as a convenience for these fans, we provide separate AL and NL sections that concentrate only on news and scores for that league.
Which rankings do you use for college football and basketball teams? Why is there a discrepancy in your rankings in different stories?

In general, we use the ESPN/USA Today rankings. You'll see these rankings in the left-hand score ticker and in many of our game previews and recaps. However, we also receive many news stories and game recaps from the AP, and these articles use the AP rankings, which often don't agree with the ESPN/USA Today rankings.
