The fundamentals of keeper leagues. 

In a keeper league, one or more players are kept on a fantasy roster from season to season. This is in contrast to a standard fantasy league, where all managers start with a blank slate and draft a completely new team each year.

A keeper league adds a new level of strategy to playing Yahoo! Fantasy Sports, since the decisions to add, drop, and trade players have consequences beyond the current season. For example, keeper leagues allow managers who may not contend for a championship this season to start building their team for next year. They could trade a veteran player who can help a playoff-bound team for a young, up-and-coming rookie who will help the out-of-contention team in the future.

There are numerous formats to choose from, so the league should decide which format works best for them. Leagues can decide how many players each team can keep and the deadline to declare keepers.
